1. Look through the proposed programme schedules for Channel 5 and the reasons that lie behind them. Comment on the changes that have been made, compared with the existing channels, and on the balance of programming. Does this reflect what you personally would have wished to see on a fifth channel? Give your views, with specific examples.
2. Any commercial channel has to attract viewers in order to generate advertising income. What other criteria should it adopt in planning schedules? Should it have a responsibility towards the population as a whole in terms of its programme output?
